Practical Test

The Driving Standards Agency Practical test will last for about 35 - 40 minutes, during that time you will be asked to perform two driving manoeuvres. You will also be asked to demonstrate a hill start and an angled start. The remainder of the test is taken up by general driving. You will be allowed up to 15 minor errors as long as these errors do not create danger for you or other road users, if you make a serious or dangerous faults this will cause you to fail.

The examiner will inform you immediatley after the test whether you have passed or failed.

You must take your provisional licence, theory test certificate and you confirmation letter from the DSA. If you do not have a photographic drivers licence you should take another form of I.D such as a passport or national I.D card with a signature and picture.

Once you have signed the insurance declaration for the test the examiner will ask you to read a number plate from 67 feet away and then ask you 2 questions based on the practical knowledge of the car, these are called the Show Me Tell Me Questions, after you have answered these questions the driving section of the test will begin.

The examiner will give you clear directions throughout the test which you should listen to carefully and follow accordingly.

If you pass the test you will be given a pass certificate if you fail, the examiner will tell you where you went wrong.
